ShantyTown Demo

Shantytown is a cozy “diorama builder” where you piece together dense urban environments in an enchanting world, one object at a time.

Note: This DEMO includes the first 5 locations to play out of the 20 in the full game

In this demo, take on the role of a surveyor tasked with building and photographing the first 5 locations. Each location provides a unique set of objects to work with, but it’s up to you to decide where they will go. Larger objects, like buildings, can be upgraded by providing light, utility, and decor objects to them. Optional objectives can be completed to unlock new objects in the creative mode.

When you are finished with a location, take a photo of it to add to your dossier and move on to your next blank canvas.

Each location has its own distinct look and feel - In this demo you'll be building a boat dock, a shrine, a settlement around a lighthouse, a stilted tea house and one more area of urban growth.

Shantytown is a solo-developer project inspired by my love for densely-built cities around the world. You will be encouraged to build vertically, fill small gaps or alleys with utilities and details, and creatively place items like light sources to cover more area. Just like when you’re packing a bag, there’s always room for one more thing!

Each map has its own twist and set of objects, from food trucks and bus stops, to smokestacks or neon signs, you'll be creating urban environments with character!

Most importantly, build your own way. This is a casual game and there are no wrong answers. Be creative and construct your own virtual urban diorama.

One of the pillars of gameplay here is creativity and freedom of expression. Developing organically growing dense city blocks in a natural and realistic way.
